Remember that your use of Akume’s Services is at all times subject to our Terms of Use, which incorporates this Privacy Policy. Any terms we use in this Policy without defining them have the definitions given to them in the Terms of Use.

- Placing a notice on the Akume website
- Sending you an email
- Other appropriate means
Please note that if you’ve opted not to receive legal notice emails from us (or haven’t provided us with your email address), those legal notices will still govern your use of the Services, and you are still responsible for reading and understanding them. If you use the Services after any changes to the Privacy Policy have been posted, that means you agree to all of the changes.
What This Privacy Policy Covers
This Privacy Policy covers how we treat Personal Data that we gather when you access or use our Services. “Personal Data” means any information that identifies or relates to a particular individual and also includes information referred to as “personally identifiable information” or “personal information” under applicable data privacy laws, rules or regulations.
This Privacy Policy does not cover the practices of companies we don’t own or control or people we don’t manage.

Below is a detailed chart of the categories of Personal Data that we collect and have collected over the past 12 months:

- We receive the status of your payments and subscriptions, the identifiers that link them to your account and, in some payment notifications, the card brand and last 4 digits

Sources of Personal Data
Direct Collection From You
- When you provide information directly
- When you create an account and answer the sign-up questionnaire
- When you use interactive tools and Services
- When you start a session: captions are produced and stored for every session
- When you voluntarily provide information
- When you contact us
Automatic Collection
- Through first-party cookies, browser storage and similar technologies on the akume.ai domain, used by us and by the service providers described below. These technologies serve different purposes. Some are necessary to operate the Services: they keep you signed in, remember your choices, and, if you buy a plan on start.akume.ai before creating an account, hold your purchase reference so that the account you then create receives the purchase — kept only for a short, limited period. The language you pick in the language menu on akume.ai or start.akume.ai is remembered in a first-party cookie named akume_locale: it is set only when you make that choice, holds nothing but the language code, and is kept for one year. Others help us understand how the Services are used and measure the results of our advertising; we describe them under Analytics and Advertising and Measurement below.
- Device information for Services delivery
Third Party Sources
- Our service providers (for example, payment and subscription status from Stripe)
- Third Party Accounts (Google, when you sign in with Google)
User responsibility reminder
Captions are produced and stored in every session. Company is not responsible if a meeting organizer adds the translator to a meeting without proper notice to, or consent of, the other participants.

How We Share Your Personal Data
Service Providers
We share Personal Data with the following providers, each only for the purpose stated:
- Recall.ai: the meeting bot that joins your call and receives the meeting audio and video for real-time processing (United States)
- Palabra.ai: real-time speech recognition, translation and speech synthesis; audio and captions travel through Palabra’s media infrastructure (LiveKit)
- Amazon Web Services: hosting of the application and database, and sign-in through Amazon Cognito (EU, Stockholm region)
- Stripe: payment processing, subscription billing and the billing portal
- Resend: delivery of email about your account and, if you opted in, product updates
- Sentry: error monitoring; reports are stored in the EU, are sent without your IP address, and session replay is not used
- Slack and Telegram: internal messaging that notifies our team of new registrations (including questionnaire answers) and product feedback
- Google: the Google STUN server (stun.l.google.com), which the listener page contacts to set up the audio connection, so Google receives the IP address of your device; no audio or captions pass through it (United States). Where you have agreed to it, Google also provides our advertising and measurement services (Google Ads, Google Tag Manager), as described under Advertising and Measurement, and receives information about the pages you visit and the actions you take on our websites and in the app.
- PostHog: product analytics covering page views and product events on akume.ai, start.akume.ai and app.akume.ai, stored in the European Union; session recording is off, and the addresses of pages are recorded without payment or advertising click identifiers
Analytics
We use PostHog for product analytics. It records page views and product events on our websites and in the app under a random visitor identifier kept in first-party cookies on the akume.ai domain (365 days); when you sign in, the identifier is linked to your account. The events describe what was done, not what was said or typed, and page addresses are recorded without payment or advertising click identifiers.
Advertising and Measurement
We advertise our Services and measure how well that advertising works. For these purposes we use services provided by Google, including Google Ads and Google Tag Manager, together with the tags, conversion labels and identifiers those services provide. Where you have agreed to this, those services may set and read cookies and similar technologies on our domains, receive information about the pages you visit and the actions you take on our websites and in the app — for example, that a trial was started or a purchase was completed — and recognise your device across websites and apps, in order to measure and show advertising. We do not share the content of your meetings, captions or recordings with advertising services. Some advertising measurements are produced on our own systems from payment and subscription records rather than from your device.
Enhanced conversions. When you pay for a plan, an intro offer or a minute pack (including renewals), and you have agreed to advertising measurement, our servers may send Google Ads a record of that payment: the amount and currency, the time, an order reference, the advertising click identifier saved when you arrived from an ad (for example, the gclid), and a SHA-256 hash of your email address, normalised as Google requires (trimmed, lower-cased, without dots in Gmail addresses) before hashing. The hash is created on our servers; Google receives it, not your email address in readable form, and uses it only to match the payment to the ad that led to it (Google’s Enhanced Conversions). If a payment is refunded, we tell Google Ads so that the conversion is withdrawn or reduced. We do not send this record, the click identifier or the hash if you have not agreed to advertising measurement.
The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and UK GDPR, and the equivalent consent under other applicable laws); you can withdraw it at any time by writing to support@akume.ai or by blocking our cookies in your browser (see Cookie Controls), which stops any further transfers. Google processes this data on our behalf under the Google Ads Data Processing Terms. Learn more about enhanced conversions and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Where a particular use is not based on your agreement, it relies on the contract between you and us, or on our legitimate interests in promoting and protecting our Services, and is limited to what applicable law allows. You can refuse analytics and advertising cookies as described under Cookie Controls. Identifiers used for analytics and advertising are kept for as long as needed for the purposes described here, and we stop using them for those purposes once you withdraw your agreement.
Other Parties
- Those you authorize (people you give a session’s listener link to)
- Legal obligations
- Business transfers
International Transfers
We are located in the United States, and some of the providers above process Personal Data in the United States or in other countries outside your own. Where the GDPR or the UK GDPR applies to you, such transfers rely on the safeguards provided for in those laws, such as standard contractual clauses in our providers’ data processing terms. Contact us for details.
Data Security and Retention
Security Measures
We implement appropriate physical, technical, organizational and administrative security measures to protect your Personal Data.
Retention Period
We retain Personal Data for as long as necessary to:
- Provide our Services
- Perform business purposes
- Comply with legal obligations
- Resolve disputes
- Collect fees
- Maintain security
Live meeting audio is processed in real time to provide translation and is not retained after the call ends: the meeting-bot provider runs in zero-data-retention mode and no meeting recording is kept. Captions and transcripts are stored for every session in the account that ran it and are deleted on your request to support@akume.ai. Records of payments, subscriptions and minute grants are kept after an account is deleted where needed for accounting and to prevent misuse.
Your Rights and Choices
Cookie Controls
We use analytics and advertising cookies and similar technologies on akume.ai, start.akume.ai and app.akume.ai for every visitor from the first page view: PostHog product analytics (a first-party visitor identifier, described under Analytics) and Google Ads and Google Tag Manager (cookies that measure our advertising and record the advertising click that brought you to us, described under Advertising and Measurement). They are turned on by default and no cookie banner is shown.
You can refuse or remove these cookies at any time in your browser settings — block or delete cookies for akume.ai, or use your browser’s private mode or tracking protection — and you can opt out of personalised Google advertising in Google’s ad settings. You can also write to support@akume.ai and ask us to stop using analytics and advertising data about you and to delete it. Refusing these cookies does not affect technologies that are necessary to provide the Services you have asked for — for example, keeping you signed in, or the reference that connects a purchase made before sign-up to the account you create.

You can update your account information by contacting us.
Communications Preferences
You can opt out of promotional email at any time through the unsubscribe link in those messages or by writing to support@akume.ai. Service email about your account, such as sign-in codes and billing notices, continues.

To delete your account, or the captions of your sessions, write to support@akume.ai from the email address on the account.
