Terms of Use
Welcome to Akume, a product of EL Mental Health LLC, a limited liability company with its principal office at 7910 4th Street North, Suite 300, St. Petersburg, FL 33702, United States. Please read on to learn the rules and restrictions that govern your use of our website(s), products, services and applications (the “Services”). If you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding these terms or the Services, please contact us at support@akume.ai or +1 (239) 309-7286.
These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are a binding contract between you and EL Mental Health LLC (“Company,” “we” and “us”). Your use of the Services in any way means that you agree to all of these Terms, and these Terms will remain in effect while you use the Services. These Terms include the provisions in this document as well as those in the Privacy Policy, and any other relevant policies.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: PLEASE NOTE THAT YOUR USE OF AND ACCESS TO OUR SERVICES ARE SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING TERMS; IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO ALL OF THE FOLLOWING, YOU MAY NOT USE OR ACCESS THE SERVICES IN ANY MANNER.
Will these Terms ever change?
We are constantly striving to enhance our Services, which may necessitate changes to these Terms. We reserve the right to modify the Terms at any time, and in such an event, we will provide notice on the Akume website, send you an email, and/or notify you through other means.
If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you are free to reject them; however, this will result in the inability to continue using the Services. Your continued use of the Services following the effective date of the amended Terms signifies your acceptance of all changes.
Changes on October 11, 2026: intro offers are described in general terms, and prices may be shown and charged in your local currency; the offer, price and currency shown at checkout apply (see Intro Offers and Charges and Prices, Currency and Taxes).
Changes on October 7, 2026: the language being spoken is no longer counted, so a call uses one translation minute fewer per minute than the number of languages selected (see Intro Offers and Charges).
Changes on October 2, 2026: the Refund Policy now includes the Intro Money-Back Guarantee and allows refunds in other exceptional cases. Nothing else in these Terms has changed.
Subscription, Billing and Cancellation
Intro Offers and Charges
- Plans are charged in full at checkout, unless an intro offer is shown at checkout as described below
- An intro offer lets you use the Services for a limited period with a limited number of translation minutes, for a fee charged at checkout (or, where checkout shows it, at no charge), followed by the plan shown at checkout. The intro offers available can change and may differ between customers
- The fee, the length of the intro period, the minutes it includes, and the price and billing period of the plan that follows are shown before you pay; the terms shown at checkout apply to your purchase
- You can get the intro fee back within 7 calendar days of the purchase under the Intro Money-Back Guarantee described in the Refund Policy. Cancelling during the intro period, or not using the intro minutes, does not by itself refund the intro fee
- There is one intro offer per account: if the account has already had one, a later subscription starts without an intro and is charged in full at checkout. A free trial that the account had before September 29, 2026 does not prevent it from buying one intro offer
- A free trial started before these Terms took effect continues on the terms that applied when it started
- The language being spoken is not counted, so a call uses one translation minute fewer per minute of the call than the number of languages selected: 2 languages = 1 translation minute per minute, 3 languages = 2. In a presentation with a fixed speaker language, every selected language except the speaker's is counted. The same rule applies to intro minutes, plan minutes and minute packs
- When the intro period ends, your subscription renews automatically into the plan the intro offer leads to, and you are charged its price for its billing period, as shown at checkout, unless you cancel before the intro period ends
Prices, Currency and Taxes
- Prices are shown at checkout in US dollars or, where available, in your local currency. The amount and currency shown at checkout are the amount and currency charged, and later renewals of the same subscription are charged in that currency
- Any taxes that apply are shown at checkout before you pay
Renewal
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly, every 3 months, or annual) until cancelled, at the then-current price for your plan
- If a renewal payment fails, no further minutes are added until a payment succeeds; the minutes already on the account remain. You can update your card in the billing portal
Minute Packs
- Where you need more minutes than your plan includes, one-off minute packs can be bought at the fixed price shown on the pricing page at akume.ai and in the app before you buy
- Minute packs are available only while you have an active paid subscription, and not during an intro or trial period
- A minute pack is non-refundable once any of its minutes have been used, except as set out in the Refund Policy
Cancellation
- You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings, or by emailing support@akume.ai
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, or of the intro period if you cancel during an intro; you keep access until then, and you will not be charged again
- Minutes left on the account, included or bought as packs, are not paid out when a subscription ends; they stay on the account and can be spent while a subscription is running
Refund Policy
Payments are generally non-refundable. Refunds are available only in the cases set out in this Refund Policy.
Intro Money-Back Guarantee
- If you bought an intro offer, you can get the intro fee back within 7 calendar days of the purchase, for any reason. To request it, write to support@akume.ai from the email address on your account. Refunds under this guarantee are made by our support team on request; they are not issued automatically
- The guarantee applies once per account and covers the intro fee only. A plan payment charged after the intro period ends is not covered by this guarantee
First Subscription Payment
- If you are not satisfied, you can request a full refund within 3 calendar days of your first subscription payment and if you have used no more than 20 paid translation minutes (minutes included in an intro offer or a free trial do not count toward this limit). Intro fees are covered by the Intro Money-Back Guarantee above, not by this section. To request a refund, contact support@akume.ai.
Other Exceptional Cases
- We may also refund a payment in other exceptional cases, at the Company’s discretion, or where a refund is required by law
How Refunds Work
- A refund under the Intro Money-Back Guarantee removes the intro minutes you have left. If the plan that follows the intro has not been charged yet, the subscription is cancelled. If the plan has already been charged, the plan and its minutes continue unless you also ask us to cancel the subscription
- Any other refund removes the minutes that the refunded payment added to your account and ends the subscription immediately
Regulatory notice
- EU/UK consumers: You have a statutory 14-day right to withdraw from a digital-content purchase. By starting paid translation you consent to immediate performance and acknowledge that this right is lost once translation begins.
- Refunds are processed through our payment provider, Stripe. A refund may also be issued at the Company’s discretion to comply with card-network or consumer-protection rules.

You may be able to access certain parts or features of the Services by using your account credentials from other services (each, a “Third Party Account”), such as those offered by Google. By using the Services through a Third Party Account, you permit us to access certain information from such account for use by the Services. You are ultimately in control of how much information is accessible to us and may exercise such control by adjusting your privacy settings on your Third Party Account.
Legal Requirements
You represent and warrant that you are an individual of legal age to form a binding contract (or if not, you’ve received your parent’s or guardian’s permission to use the Services and have gotten your parent or guardian to agree to these Terms on your behalf).

As part of the Services, you may receive communications through the Services, including messages that Akume sends you (for example, via email). User Responsibilities
You are responsible for:

- Compliance with laws: your use of the Services complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and third-party rights
- Obtaining necessary consents, consent from participants of your meeting: captions are produced and stored for every session, so before adding the translator to a meeting you have properly informed all meeting participants and obtained any legally required consent to process, caption, translate, and share their audio or speech data
- Following content restrictions: you do not upload, share, or generate any content that violates these Terms, applicable laws, intellectual property rights, or the privacy of others.
Company is not responsible for any failure by you to obtain such consents or comply with applicable laws.

- modify User Data for technical purposes
- use your feedback to improve the Services
- use aggregated and anonymized data.
Live Captions & Consent
By accepting these Terms when you create your account, and by starting a session (pasting a meeting link and sending the translator into a call), you give us permission to process the audio and speech of that meeting in real time to produce translation and captions. Captions and their translations are generated and stored for every session; there is no setting that switches captioning or caption storage off. Processing of meeting audio stops when the session ends, and no recording of the meeting is kept after the call.
Access to Captions and Deletion
While a session is running, its live captions and caption history are available to anyone who holds the session’s listener link, without signing in. After the session ends, only the account that ran the session can access its captions. There is no team or organization sharing. Captions and transcripts are retained until you ask us to delete them: write to support@akume.ai from the email address on your account.
